Comment: Hesitant about being too happy the school closure proposals have been dropped - some schools will still be put forward for closure in the revised proposals - we need to keep up visibility for the campaign to Save Canon Pyon School - PLEASE write a letter, download a poster, petition etc. It'll be worth it!!

Comment: We have 2 children which attend our local school and are both very happy growing up within the community. The C of E school teaches them very important values which will stay with them throughout their lives. the school closing would be like shutting down our community, taking away parental choice. we as parents,like our local school our children are safe and well cared for. once again we feel we are being penalised for living in the country.

Comment: Please everybody keep the campaign going to help save our school.My grandfather,his 3 brothers and sister used to go to the school 90years ago!!What great history!Over the past 135years. The proposal has only been suspended,so we still need to work together and fight it.

Comment: Dear parents, children, school staff, governors, friends, villagers, ex-pupils, well-wishers... Well, we have done it, we have at least given ourselves a chance to have some breathing space and time to engage in a proper consultation, with up-to-date data and one-to-one conversations, where we can put our point of view in a carefully considered way. The proposals as they stood were only withdrawn because of the huge and angry opposition, in which you all played such a marvellous part - thank you all so much for expressing your feelings so forcefully and coherently. Thanks too to the war committee for your hard work and, it appeared, instant and organised response. I echo previous comments - don't give up now, this has not gone away, we have just been given time to muster our resources. I have been at a heads' meeting today - everyone else feels as strongly as we do. Keep up the fight!

Comment: We have a golden opportunity to really put together a case that is rock solid if we all pull together. The school must not close and we will not let it. As parents we make the best choices that we can for our children and I am confident that the attendance at Canon Pyon will help my daughters in acheiving their potential not just acedemically but in the values of life and friendship. To close the school would have a devastating effect all around and we must not give in to small minded people.

Comment: please keep up the fight for this fantastic school as a new parent I have been so happy with my childs introduction to school he started in reception last september and loves it his teacher is so kind and caring as are all the staff and other parents! we only live 5 minutes away from the school it is such a valuable part of the community if we lose it it will never be the same any where else!

Comment: We have a daughter at the school who is the youngest in her year. We live in Holmer,Hereford and travel, but this was our choose, and we feel it is worth every mile, because Canon Pyon School is super!! Our daughter has been very happy at the school and we was hoping our son would be joining the school in 2010. The school is one big family, we all help each other, the older children help the younger ones. The teachers are out of the world. Although this news has been retracted THE FIGHT MUST GO ON!!!! SAVE THE SCHOOL!

Comment: Hi, Now that the ePetition is up and running at No.10, I noticed that there are over 500 petitions in the education section, but currently it will only take around 200 signatures to get our petition on the first page of the that list! Please sign the petition.

Comment: What a brilliant website. What a brilliant community response to the incompetence of the council officers. What a privilege to live in such a wonderful village! Other schools in other villages are looking jealously at Canon Pyon and wondering how they can come up with a campaign as strong and effective as ours. Let's keep up the impetus. Pressure now in the right places will be good for the entire county come September.

Comment: Hi, just to update everyone on the CD, you may have or not have noticed but Neil has put a school video with the new campaign song on this webb page, please if you can print off the lyrics and get your children to learn them ready for the 13th Feb. Today Jack the song writter attended Ian Mosley's studio, in Canon Pyon, to record this song professionly and it's looking even better again! I would like to say Jack is only 18 years old and is going to College of music in Brighton this September.

Comment: Both my children started school in Canon Pyon and i can't believe they are wanting to close it. The children left Canon Pyon school 3 years ago now and they both still remember it with fond memories and would return tomorrow if they could.

Comment: Fantastic news,I still can't quite believe it.What a relief for us all and the children!!!We can all enjoy half term and it will be lovely to go back to school and see the wildlife area and enjoy our school.

Comment: 3 years ago i was lucky enough to complete my teaching practice at Canon Pyon, working with Amy in year 1/2 class. The staff and children are so lovely and is such a shame that the school may close. Had some great memeories and without Canon Pyon i wouldn't be where i am today, teaching back in my home town- Stratford-upon-Avon.

Comment: I am delighted to see that the school is reprieved. I know from bitter experience the effect that closing a school can have on a community. I am the grandmother of a Canon Pyon schoolgirl (Eleanor) and as the mother of her Dad, we went through the experience of our village school closing in 1976. The village has died a slow death since then! I hope that Canon Pyon school goes on for another lifetime. A village school really is the life-blood of a thriving village. Your efforts have shown that people-power can be effective. Congratulations.
